Lesson 4 has 17 interesting and varied activities that use simple words containing the first vowel: u - U
On this page are links to 3 of these 17 activities. They are pages with
illustrations and short simple sentences using single syllable words. Clicking
on a sentence will play a reading of that sentence in a clear, well annunciated
voice.
To aid the student, there are colour coded pronunciation hints and limited
phonetic marks over the words.
To help understand the pronunciation hints and marks used in Now Read This, have a look at the activities presented in the Preliminary Lesson. Click here to see these online.
These activities can be used on a single computer, or projected in a large room as a whole class activity. They are particularly impressive and compelling when used on an interactive whiteboard.
These cartoons are stand-alone activities taken from the much larger Now Read This interactive program.
There are buttons on the bottom edge of the cartoon pages, and in the top right hand corner. In the complete Now Read This interactive program, these buttons access Sight Word lists, difficult digraphs and exceptions. They are the next step in complexity. After examining the linked pages, the user simply jumps back to the original page.
The links on the buttons have been disabled in these stand-alone sample activities.
